ABOUT US

La Boulangerie! is an exciting new non-profit capsule display space and residency to exhibit and promote emerging artists. Formerly a bakery from the 1900s, La Boulangerie! is housed in a historic building centrally located on the 9th arrondissement of Paris, between the famous landmarks of Opera and Montmartre.

The Art Nouveau glass panels of the façade as well as the Rococo four seasons trompe l’oeil ceiling of farmers sowing seeds and harvesting wheat, were made by hand in the atelier of a certain Mr. Gilbert. His art still survives in a very few commercial antique spaces in Paris, most famous amongst them being the now popular restaurant Chez Julien situated right on the river Seine by the Marais.

La Boulangerie! is supported by rossogranada.

THE EXHIBITIONS

The key objectives that define the programme and exhibition activities of
La Boulangerie! are:

– to create a space of slowing down, an intimate experience for connecting and looking at one artwork at a time.

– to combine art & architecture appreciation, in a space with abundant historical period features.

– to embrace contemporary art in a very particular heritage space, far away from the white cube notion.

– to introduce a project-based display space, directly working with the artists on each and every work, while enjoying a non-commercial status.
