The exhibition will take place at Juan O’Gorman’s former house and studio in Mexico City during Zona Maco, and will be accessible by appointment only from 7 to 8 February 2026. Santiago Evans Canales (born 1996, Mexico) is a Mexican artist working primarily in painting and drawing. Having grown up across different regions of the Americas, he completed his MFA at the Royal Academy of Antwerp in 2021 and obtained a postgraduate degree from the Royal College of Art in London in 2022.

His work explores intimacy, personal history, and the lingering traces of childhood passions through a pictorial practice informed by art history, moving images, and both observational and imaginative sources. Humor, critique, and language play a central role in his compositions, producing images that oscillate between exposure and concealment, confession and distance. Each body of work responds to the previous one, forming a continuous narrative conceived as an open, evolving process.

For Phenomenon Peephole Aesthete (Fenómeno: Mirilla Esteta), Evans Canales will present sculpture for the first time, extending his pictorial research into three-dimensional form and marking a significant new direction within his practice.

Evans Canales has presented solo and group exhibitions internationally, including in Frankfurt, Paris, Antwerp, Hong Kong, Caserta, Miami, and Brussels. His work is held in the public collections of Museum Plantin-Moretus, Antwerp, Belgium, and X Museum, Beijing, China.
